Obituary

Corrine Christine Berhow, 77, of Fertile died on Wednesday, January 5, 2010 at Sanford Health Care, Fargo, ND. Corrine Christine was born September 27, 1933 in rural Fertile, the daughter of Willie and Julia (Dale) Gudvangen. She attended rural school and the Fertile-Beltrami Public School. Corrine earned her GED in 1981, an accomplishment that made her very proud.
On July 24, 1953, Corrine was united in marriage to Leon "Bud" Berhow at Fertile, MN. They lived in Chisholm, MN, where Corrine worked at a Pizza restaurant, and Nielsville, MN, before settling near his home farm in Liberty Township. Over the years, Corrine worked at the Wagon Wheel Café, Mac's Café, Sandhill Supper Club, Fertile Hotel, Lee's Nursery, and Anderson Fabric, Crookston. For a time she worked at the Texaco Station owned by her sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Leonard Nephew. Throughout the years, Corrine also helped with farm work. In about 1992, Corrine obtained a rural mail route contract and delivered mail until 1999, and worked with Bud dry walling throughout the years. Bud passed away on December 11, 2005, and Corrine continued to live at her home.
When Corrine was younger, she and her siblings would ride the train to Crookston to sing on the radio. After she was married, Corrine found her true gifting—being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life was dedicated to the health and wellbeing of her family's members and their friends. Many of Corrine's children's friends thought of her as their "2nd mom". Family gatherings, with dancing, making lefse and potato dumplings, playing horseshoes or just being together made Corrine happy. Corrine loved being with Bud, and missed him dearly when he passed. Corrine will be missed by all who knew her. May God bless her memory.
Corrine is survived by three sons: Kevin (Diane), Randy and Wayne all of Fertile, MN; three daughters: Deborah "Debbie" Berhow, Carline Berhow, and Darlene (Kevin) Solie, all of Fertile, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: Kyle (Fallon) Solie, their children, Leon and Colton, Fertile; Alicia (Mike Elbinger) Berhow, and their children Austin and Mason, Crookston, MN; Krystal Solie, Grand Forks, ND; Chris Berhow, Bemidji, MN; Travis Berhow, Fertile; Katy Rolland, Grand Forks, ND; Lacey Berhow, Gary, MN; Tracey Berhow, Crookston; Kelsey Berhow, Fertile; Preston Hovde, Fertile; Jordan Berhow, Fertile; two sisters: Erma Solie and Doris Michaels, both of Fertile; two brothers: Wilbur (Francis) Gudvangen, Fertile, and Maynard (Adrienne) Gudvangen, Fort Myers, FL; one brother-in-law: Muret Berhow, McIntosh, MN; two sisters-in-law: Adeline Gudvangen and Stella Berhow, both of Fertile; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
