Obituary

Conrad B. Christianson, age 89, of Ulen, Minnesota, died January 20, 2009, in his winter home in Weslaco, Texas.

Conrad Christianson was born July 12, 1919, the son of Christ and Carrie (Syverson) Christianson in Ulen. As a young man, Conrad enlisted in the United States Marines on January 10, 1941. He served his country in Iceland and later in the Pacific Theater during World War II, where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge on February 14, 1947, Conrad returned to Ulen where he was employed at the Ulen Union in the printing office for a few years. He was later employed with the Ulen Post Office and later worked as a rural mail carrier for a total of 37 years with the postal service. During his entire working career, Conrad also operated a farm near of Ulen.

On December 31, 1950, Conrad was united in marriage to Mary "Babe" Bisek at Mahnomen, Minnesota. The couple made their home on his family farm near Ulen which is where he and Mary continued to live to the present time, aside from spending winters in Weslaco.

Conrad is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary "Babe" Christianson of Ulen, MN; two sons, Mark (Shelly Lunder) Christianson of Ulen, MN and Cris (Lori) Christianson of Solvang, CA; two daughters, Kari (Duane) Schouveiller of Mahnomen, MN and Lois (Wayne) Buckley of Laporte, MN; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four sisters-in-law, Alvina Christianson, Beatrice Dusek, Patricia Bisek and Gloria Bisek.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rudolph and Edgar.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Ulen VFW Club Room. Officiating will be Pastor Loren Fevig with Zach Struble serving as urnbearer. Special music was provided by Monica Winter, Tina Starkey and Duane Schouveiller. Military honors was provided by the Ulen VFW Post #5115 and the Ulen Post #412 of the American Legion.

Inurnment was taken place in Bethlehem Lutheran North Cemetery, Ulen.
