Obituary

Clinton Halgrimson, age 96, of Fertile, MN died Friday, January 27, 2012 in Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile.

Clinton Kurwin Halgrimson was born October 7, 1915 to Henry and Ida (Nedberg) Halgrimson in Ulen, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Ulen. Clinton attended county school and as a young man worked for area farmers. Clinton served his country during World War II from 1941 until the end of the war in 1945 serving in the Army. While in the military he was stationed in Italy. On July 7, 1947 he was united in marriage to Grace Sanders of Rollag, MN and they had three sons. After her sudden death in 1954 Clinton continued to raise his sons. Over the years he was employed for farmers in the Ulen, Ada and Crookston areas, a missile base in North Dakota, American Crystal Sugar beet plant in Crookston, drove transportation for Glenmore Recovery Center of Crookston and after his semi-retirement he was the caretaker of the Fisher's Landing rest stop near Fisher, Minnesota. Clinton became a resident of the Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile in 2007.
Clinton enjoyed playing cards, traveling to other states and visiting with anyone who had time.

He is survived by two sons, Monty (Shirley) of Fertile, MN and Merrill Tinjum. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Cassie (Joey) Weiss, Jared Halgrimson, James, Jens, and Jennifer Tinjum, his sister-in-law Adeline Halvorson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clinton was preceded in death by his wife, one son Marloye Halgrimson, (1969) brothers Kermit and Harley, sisters, Ione Finch and Merine Jacobson, brothers and sisters-in-law, Leona Halgrimson, Everett Finch, Maynard Jacobson, Willard Sander, Gordon and Millie Sander, Reuben and Annie Sander, Joyce and Orvin Rude and Lloyd Halvorson.

Memorial Services were held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 2 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home in Twin Valley with military rites. A time of gathering was held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ann Pairan was officiating. Inurnment was in the West Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen.MN.
