Clifford Shaw, age 81, of Ulen, MN, died Wednesday, May 9th, 2007, in his home surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Clifford Leonard Shaw was born April 19, 1926, in Hagen Township, Clay County, rural Felton, MN, to John and Lena (Swenson) Shaw. He grew up in rural Felton and attended Country School Dist. 105 in Hagen Township. Clifford was baptized and confirmed at Lysne Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN.
On June 10, 1956, Clifford was united in marriage to Bonnie Vincent at Lysne Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in rural Felton, where they raised dairy cattle and harvested hay. In 2002, they retired and moved into Ulen, where Clifford and Bonnie continued to make their home.
Raising dairy cattle and farming wasn't just a job; it was his way of life. Over the years, Clifford had developed a passion for this lifestyle. He thoroughly enjoyed what he did day in and day out. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren also brought much happiness to his life. Clifford was a long time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and active member of the Ulen Senior Citizens.
Clifford is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie, of Ulen; one son, Carl (Susan), also of Ulen; one daughter, Betty Shaw (Paul Banttari), of Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Darren, of Fargo, Sarah (John) Kauffman, also of Fargo, Brian (Katie), of Crookston, MN, Barry, Nathan and Allen, all of Ulen; one great-grandson, Daniel; three sisters, Irene Hilde, of Mt. Iron, MN, Alice (Gisle) Hilde, of Ulen and Leona (James) Hilde, of Lengby, MN; sister-in-law, Mitsuko Shaw of Tower, MN; one aunt, Helga Swenson, of Barnesville, MN; two brothers-in-law, Larry (Dorothy) Vincent of Felton, MN and Donald (Lois) Vincent of Glyndon, MN; sister-in-law Junita Jeral of Hawley, MN and several cousins, nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Joseph, John, Jr., and Donald and an infant sister, Geraldine Shaw.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 14th at 10:30 AM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation will be Sunday, May 13th, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM also in Bethlehem Lutheran Church and one hour before services at the church on Monday. Officiating will be Pastor John Martinson with Carol Lockhart serving as organist and Karen Bergstrom serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Darren Shaw, Sarah Kauffman, Brian Shaw, Barry Shaw, Nathan Shaw and Allen Shaw. Honorary pallbearers will be all those in attendance at his funeral service.
Interment will be in Bethlehem Lutheran North Cemetery, Ulen.
