Clayton "Jake" W. Jacobson, 85, Ada, MN, formerly of Perley, MN, died Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.
Clayton William Jacobson was born July 21, 1931, at home, rural Perley, MN, in Lee Township. His parents were William and Margaret (Reierson) Jacobson. He attended school in Perley before graduating from Hendrum (MN) High School. He was active in the Riverside 4-H club during his school years.
After his school years, Jake farmed with his family. Jake was united in marriage to Beverly Hoff on January 23, 1960, in Fergus Falls, MN. They made their home in the Perley area where he continued farming and later worked for American Crystal Sugar in the Moorhead plant. Over the years, Jake enjoyed socializing with his family and many friends over coffee. He was a civic and church leader and served on the Perley City Council and as the Mayor for many years. He was active in Kirkebo Lutheran Church serving on council and as treasurer. He also volunteered with the Perley Fire Department for many years.
Jake stayed active up until his health declined, attending family activities, and countless school events and games for his cherished grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved to dance and followed the Twins and Vikings for many seasons, including winning a car at the old Twins stadium. He could be seen in the bleachers for many Norman County West and Ada Borup sporting events.
Jake is survived by his wife, Beverly, Ada, MN, two daughters, Karen (Roger) Egeberg, Argusville, ND, Rene (Don) Miller, Ada, MN, four grandchildren, Laura Egeberg, Dani Miller, Rachel (Zach) Lee, and Brian (Brandy) Miller, one sister Doris (Clayton) Mjolsness, Detroit Lakes, MN, and 2 nieces and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral: 11:00AM Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley, MN.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 25, 2017, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with a 7:00PM prayer service at the church.
Burial: Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery, rural Perley.
