Clarice Hilde, 98, Ulen, MN died Saturday, January 16, 2010, in the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota.

Clarice Lauretta Wang was born August 3, 1911, the daughter of Bernard and Clara (Fuglie) Wang on her grandparent's homestead in Hagen Township near Ulen. She was baptized and confirmed her faith in Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She attended school in Ulen for the first four years while staying with her aunt and uncle, Ole and Josephine Eide, during the school year. After completing the eighth grade at the old Sanford School in Hagen Township, Clarice continued to live on her parent's farm helping with housework and farm chores. On February 8, 1929, Clarice was united in marriage to Helmer Hilde in Moorhead. The couple made their home on a farm in Keene Township living there for nine years before moving to a farm in Hagen Township where they lived for the next 40 years. Over the years they raised cattle, hogs, turkeys and chickens in addition to cash grain crops. They continued to enjoy the farm life until 1978, when they retired and bought a house in Ulen. Helmer got sick about the same time, and died April 1, 1978. Clarice remained there until moving into the assisted living in the fall of 2006, where she resided until the time of her death.

Clarice was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran where she enjoyed going to Bible study, ladies aid and doing quilting. She loved spending time with her family and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. Other favorite past times included knitting such things as sweaters and mittens.

Survivors include three sons, Waldo (Norma) of Moorhead, Ernest (Twilla) of Borup, MN. and Bernard (Earlene) of Leeds, Utah, one brother, Vernon Wang, Moorhead, MN, 2 sisters, Eleanor Braseth, Mahnomen, MN and Frances Hogenson, Moorhead, MN, 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 9 great -great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Harvey, two daughters, Linda and Ellen Marie, two brothers and three sisters.

Services was held Wednesday Jan. 20th at 11:00am in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen, MN. Visitation were Tuesday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a family service at 6:00pm all in the church.
Visitation was also be one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Officiating was Pastor Steve Dahl with Carol Lockhart serving as organist and Ron and Twila Evans serving as vocalists. Pallbearers were her grandchildren,Warren Hilde, Jeffrey Hilde, Nancy Bahe, Larry Hilde, Charlene Ludwig and Nordeen Grieve. Honorary pallbearers were the rest of Clarice's grandchildren.

Burial was in West Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen.
