Obituary

Clarence "Chuck" J. Trautner, 66, of Twin Lakes, MN, died March 21, 2007, at his home. Chuck was born May 23, 1940, to Norbert and Catherine (Garland) Trautner in Beaulieu, MN. He grew up in the Bejou, MN, area where he attended elementary school. Chuck later graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1958. Following high school, Chuck entered the United States Navy. After an honorable discharge in 1962, he attended Brown Institute and received his diploma in Industrial Electronics in 1964. On October 10, 1964, Chuck was united in marriage to Jane Halvorson. The couple made their home in New Brighton, MN, Duluth, MN, Omaha, NE, and later settled in Red Wing, MN, for several years. Chuck was a long time employee of Todd Communications. Through his employment as an electronic engineer, Chuck had many communication systems under his control, which took him to various communities, including going to Japan. A few of the jobs he supervised included the re-wiring of St. Thomas College, the communication system for the LA Police Department, and systems within KBRR/KVRR stations in Fargo, ND. Over the years, Chuck made his home in numerous cities including the Twin Cities area, Moorhead, MN, Coon Rapids, MN, and has lived the last five years out at North Twin Lake. Chuck was a member of the Mahnomen American Legion and Bejou VFW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but had a real passion for golfing, including being one of the Founding Fathers of the annual "Run From the Moose" Family Golf Tournament that is held each year in Mahnomen. Family was an important part of Chuck's life and he treasured the times he was able to spend with them, especially his grandchildren. In his younger years, Chuck loved to play both baseball and softball. Chuck is survived by one son, Craig (Kathryn) of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Calyssa and Noah; one brother, LeRoy (Kathy Jensen) of Maple Grove, MN; five sisters: Theresa Engle of McMinnville, OR, Darlene (Les) Reichenbach of Isanti, MN, Francy (James) Gleason of Coon Rapids, MN, LuCinda (David) Bunde of Thompson, ND, and Catherine (Richard) Anderson of Grand Forks, ND; Donna's daughter, Denise Cobley and her son, Adair, of San Bernardino, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; long time companion, Donna Carlton; and brother-in-law, Don Engle.
