Clarence Irwin Haug, Ada, Minnesota, died Wednesday, April 25, at Essentia Health Ada, at the age of 92. He was born September 17, 1919, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. His family moved to Bemidji, Minnesota in 1923. After his father's death in 1927 the family moved to Roseau, Minnesota for two years with another move to Thief River Falls in 1929.

Clarence was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and graduated Thief River Falls High School in 1938. He met and married his first love Evelyn Tungseth on June 2, 1942 in Thief River Falls. He served his country as a member of the United States Army in the South Pacific from 1944 – 1946. Following discharge they lived in Thief River Falls where he worked for Gustafson Motors. In 1951 the family moved to Karlstad, Minnesota where he partnered with his brother Edwin Haug in an implement business. In 1954 the Haugs moved to Newfolden, Minnesota where he again operated an implement business. A new career with Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance brought the family to Ada in 1961. Evelyn passed away in 1980 and Clarence found his second love, Lenore Ogard, whom he married on May 22, 1982. He retired from Lutheran Brotherhood in 1982 and Lenore and Clarence enjoyed winter visits to Florida for several years.

Clarence believed in civic responsibility and was active as a member of the VFW, American Legion, Lions Club International, Ada City Council, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ada. Clarence was an avid golfer and served on the board for the Heart of The Valley Golf Club in Ada and was a very active member of the Red River Seniors Golf Tour. He took great pride in his involvement in the Dekko Community Center and enjoyed membership privileges by swimming regularly into his 90s. He was an avid woodworker and proud to contribute treasures to his grandchildren and the community.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Carl D. and Eline J. (Revdahl) Haug, brothers Edwin and Rueben Haug, sister Edna Nichols, wife Evelyn in 1980, and grandson David Ogard in 2009. He is survived by: his loving wife of 29 years, Lenore, and sister Agnes Lindberg of Thief River Falls, MN. Sons: David Haug of Fort Pierce, Florida; Stephen (Kathleen) Haug of Alexandria, MN; Greg Ogard (Sharyl) of Frazee, MN; Rodney (Laurie) Ogard of Deerwood, MN; Paul (Marsha) Ogard of Ada, MN. Daughters: Ann (Mike) Good of Raritan, NJ; Carolyn (Pastor Scott) Fuller of Anchorage, AK. Grandsons: Gregory (Janina) Haug of West St. Paul, MN; Matthew (Paige) Good of Lexington, KY; Dan (Rachel) Ogard of St. Paul, MN; Captain Mark Fuller of Philadelphia, PA; Jon Ogard, Fargo, ND, Adam Ogard of West St. Paul, MN. Granddaughters: Heather (Matthew) Meek of Woodbury, MN; Mandy (Joe) Moon of Minnetrista, MN; Erika (Sam) Anderson of Woodbury, MN; Jennie Ogard of Duluth, MN; Kari Ogard of Moorhead, MN; Pastor Rachel (Pastor Tim) Wrenn of Dundee, MN; Rhea Ogard of Ada, MN.
Great Grandchildren: Jacob, Hannah and Madilynn Meek; Devin Miller & Logan Haug; Jayda & Mikala Moon; Mac Somerville & Matthew Hanson Good; Quincy Vega Ogard.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, on Monday, April 30, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 29th from 6:00-8:00pm with a 7:30pm Prayer Service at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN

Burial will be in the Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN.
