Clarence "Oly" Fairbanks, age 73, of Elbow Lake Village, rural Waubun, MN died on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family and special friend, Robin Wright.

Clarence was the youngest child born July 22, 1948 in White Earth, MN, to Samuel and Laura (Boswell) Fairbanks. He was raised by his father in the Elbow Lake Community. Clarence enrolled in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam. He was very proud of being a United States soldier. Upon returning from the service, Clarence lived in numerous places throughout his life before returning to the Elbow Lake Village to reside with his father.

Clarence started his own leeching business. He would travel all parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin delivering leeches and minnows.

Clarence loved spending time outdoors and teaching his children about hunting and trapping. The last few years, he enjoyed Bingo and going to the casino. Clarence was part of the honor guard.

Clarence is survived by his children, Samantha (Tyler) Fairbanks, Amber Fairbanks, Roderick (Brooke) Fairbanks, and Lori Bennett; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

An All Night Wake Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex, Naytahwaush, MN, with a Time of Sharing beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Sports Complex. Burial and Military Honors will be in the Vernon Anderson Cemetery, rural Waubun, MN.
