Clara Agnes Hogan was born December 18, 1915 in White Earth, MN, the daughter of Walter and Susan (St. Clair) Hogan. She grew up in White Earth, where she attended the White Earth Mission School. Following her schooling, Clara was united in marriage to William Legoo on June 15, 1935. Born to this union were five children. The family made their home in the White Earth/Ogema area. William died on October 22, 1985 and Clara continued to make her home in the area until 2008, when she moved to Shakopee, MN. Just short of her 96th birthday, Clara died peacefully at her home in Shakopee under Hospice Care on Monday, October 24, 2011 with family at her side.
Some activities that kept Clara active until recently were working word find puzzles, playing Bingo, Poker and going to the casino. She loved a trip out and the opportunity to play the quarter slots! Clara also treasured the time spent with family no matter if it was a big holiday dinner, special occasion or just a casual afternoon. In addition to her family, her Christian faith was an important part of her life and was evident in her day to day living.
Clara is survived by one son, Orville "Dick" (Beva) LaGue, Rockford, MN; three daughters: Ann (George) Solmon, MN, Ogema, Joyce Rousu, Ogema, and Bonnie (Dennis) Paesler, Thief River Falls, MN; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Donna Backen; and two sisters, Grace Fairbanks and Bernice Bellcourt.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11 am at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema, MN. Father Walter Butor OMI led the Mass and Bruce Engebretson provided special music. Serving as pallbearers were Don Dalve, Michael Rousu, Russell LaGue, Robert Backen, William Backen, Brian LaGue, and Gerald Warren. Honorary bearers included Kevin Peach, Joshua Omang, Zachary Omang and Tristan Roerig. Visitation was held Thursday, October 27th from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in White Earth, MN.
