Clara Agnes Gabrielson, 93, Ada, MN, died Friday, December 23, 2016, at Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN. She was born on October 1, 1923, to Andrew and Christine (Haugen) Anderson at Hillsboro, ND. Clara graduated from the Hillsboro High School in 1942.
On July 21, 1942, Clara was united in marriage to Chester Gabrielson at Crookston, MN. Chester entered the Army and Clara was able travel with him while he was in the United States. After his discharge in 1945, they lived in Halstad, where Chester worked as a barber. They were blessed with three daughters: Julie, Cathy, and Sue. In 1966, they moved to Ada. Clara began working as a Nurse's Aide in about 1966 at the Wimmer Nursing Home, Ada. She worked until the late 1990's, when Clara retired. Chester died January 5, 2002.
Clara was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, serving with the circles and WELCA. She belonged to the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.
Clara is remembered for her unselfish giving to her family and others. If there was a holiday, special event, or family concern, Clara would always be available. Family times were treasured in Clara's heart as she prepared and greeted those who came. Making lefse was a joy for her to make as she knew her family and friends loved to eat it. Clara will be greatly missed by all.
Clara is survived by her daughters: Julie (Rusty) Scott, Minneapolis, MN; Cathy (Tom) Wagner, Alexandria, MN; and Sue (Sue Calhoun) Gabrielson, Menomonie, WI; eight grandchildren: Lesa (Brian) Fasching, Plymouth, MN; Matthew (Carolyn) Bertsch, Sartell, MN; Cindi (Dustin) Nikituk, Blaine, MN; Jenny Bertsh, Minneapolis, MN; Alison (Brandon) Rochel, Alexandria, MN, Andrew Wagner, Denver, CO, Woody (Katelin) Wagner, Alexandria, MN, and Gabriel Wagner, Alexandria, MN; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers: Kenneth, Arvid and Tilman Anderson.
Funeral: 11 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation: One hour before the service at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada.
Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada.
