Watch Cindy's Funeral Service

Cindy Bekkerus, age 54, of Twin Valley, MN, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019, peacefully in her sleep at home after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Cynthia Lenae Lampton was born to Donald and Cheryl (Holtman) Lampton on June 23, 1965. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended school in Twin Valley where she graduated with the Class of 1983. Cindy was united in marriage to Wayne Bekkerus on January 29, 1983. The couple made their home in Twin Valley where they raised their family. Cindy was employed by Garberg Foods for twenty years before her health forced her to quit in 2016. She put up a valiant battle, living life to the fullest and enjoying time with her family. After a brief hospital stay, Cindy returned home on June 8, 2019, to live out her life with the assistance of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Being a mother and grandmother was Cindy's favorite role in life. She cherished the time she spent caring for her grandchildren and looked forward to their sleepovers and special trips. She took in all the sporting, horse, and extra-curricular events that she possibly could. Cindy was an avid fan of all NCE-UH Titans teams and could frequently be heard from the sidelines. She also enjoyed playing bingo, quilting, sewing, singing karaoke, and watching Hallmark movies. Cindy and Wayne spent time traveling, taking ranger rides, and finding the "shortcuts" on their journeys.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Wayne; their children: Andrea (Nathan) Hoff of Richwood, MN, Ashley (Joe) Diepenbrock, Paul (Kaylie) Bekkerus, and Megan (Erik) Ostgarden, all of Twin Valley; 15 grandchildren: Alexis, Madison, Chloe, Cassidy, Caleb, Kane, Ellie, Tayten, Lainie, Gunnar, Hudson, Cullen, Kynlee, Griffin, and Pierson; her mother, Cheryl Lampton; her step-mother, Darlene Lampton; her siblings: David (Sylvia Tadich) Lampton, Mike (Alicia) Lampton, Mandy (Jason) Begg, and Heather Lampton; sisters-in-law: Edna (Wally) Nelson, Pearl Boudreaux, Connie Anderson, Donna (Walt) Norberg, and Gail (Clem) Erickson; brothers-in-law: Roy Bekkerus, Roger (June) Bekkerus, and Dennis (Julie) Bekkerus; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Lampton; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Lillian Bekkerus; her brother, Danny Lampton; her sister-in-law, Verna Bekkerus; her niece, Melissa Erickson; and her nephews, Matt Boudreaux and Damon Lampton.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Cindy's medical staff at Sanford and the Roger Maris Cancer Center; as well as the wonderful team at Hospice of the Red River Valley.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Gary Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, Gary.
