Christian Roy, age 56, of Naytahwaush, MN, died on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at his home after a long battle with cancer.

Christian David, the son of Robert and Margaret (LaRoque) Roy, was born on June 30, 1967, in Minneapolis, MN.  He spent his childhood in the Minneapolis area before moving with his family to Naytahwaush.  As a young man, Chris found his talent working on cars and studied to become a mechanic.  In 1991, Chris met Mary Lovejoy and in 1998 the couple was united in marriage. They have spent their life together, raising six children and many grandchildren.  The family lived in various places over the years, including Flandreau, SD for a time, but always considered Naytahwaush their home.  After being diagnosed with cancer two years ago, Christian and Mary returned to Naytahwaush to be closer to family.

Christian had a heart of gold and would help anyone he could. He loved being with family and friends.  Chris teased those he loved mercilessly, terrorizing them with jokes and pranks any chance he could. A mischievous sparkle in his eye and sly smile was always present.  He enjoyed being outside, especially while hunting and fishing. He also liked to play cards and, in his younger years, he played softball.  Chris especially loved fixing cars and spent hours tinkering to get vehicles up and running again for family and friends.

Christian is survived by his wife, Mary; six children: Keahna Lovejoy, Lawrence Roy, Vincent Lovejoy, Christina Bruce, Teah Lovejoy, and Kyle Roy; his father, Robert "Dubby" Roy; one brother, Frank LaRoque; three sisters: Roberta Roy, Rochelle (Talin) Richard, and Rain Roy Richard; many grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret; his step-mom, Katherine, one brother, Robert; and his granddaughter, Alisha; and his nephew, Brandon Roy.

Funeral Services will be held at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.  All night Wake Services will begin Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 5:00 pm and continue until the service on Wednesday.
