Chester Berg, 97, Ada, MN, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Bridges Care Community, Ada.
Chester William Berg was born on December 9, 1913, in Viscount, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of John and Selma (Lee) Berg. In 1919, as a young boy, he moved with his family to a farm in Mary Township, near Hendrum, MN. He attended country school near Hendrum and was confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Ada.
After his school years, Chester started working on area farms for relatives. Over the years he lived mainly in Norman County, with a few years spent in the Twin Cities. For a number of years, he owned the City Service Station in Ada. He had worked for the McGregor and Geddes farms before retiring. Chester had continued to live in his home until recently when he moved to Bridges Care Community.
Chester is survived by one brother, Milo (Joyce) Berg, Newport, MN, three sisters, Esther Schau, Stillwater, MN, Norma Frattallone, St. Paul, MN, and Hazel Bongiovanne, St. Paul, MN, and 34 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Manley and Lloyd, and two sisters, Stella Backman and Florence Wichern.
Funeral Service: 11:00AM Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hendrum, MN.
