Watch Cheryl's Memorial Service

Cheryl Kjos, age 72, of Waubun, MN, died on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Cheryl Jean was born September 1, 1948, in White Earth, MN, the daughter of Martin and Florence (Kjolberg) Pederson. She grew up on a farm four miles northwest of White Earth, attending school in Waubun.  Cheryl met Earl Kjos Sr. in 3 ^rd grade when he pulled her pigtail and eventually became the love of her life. They were married on September 24, 1966.  The couple lived in the Twin Cities for a few years before moving back north where they settled in Waubun.  Throughout her life she worked various jobs, from the Garment Factory near Mahnomen and Swifts in Detroit Lakes, Frazee and Perham, MN.  Cheryl later retired from the Shooting Star Casino as lead maintenance supervisor in 2014, to care for her husband, Earl, who died in March of 2015.  She continued to live in her home on the farm in which she loved near Waubun ever since.

Cheryl loved gardening, sewing, crafting, anything in the great outdoors, and was a dream baker. She loved spending time with her family.  Cheryl lit up when she saw her grandchildren and glowed when she saw her great grandchildren.  Cheryl will be dearly missed but is at peace, which brings great comfort to her family.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Mark Kjos of Waubun, MN; and daughter, Lori (Willie Wallace) Amundsen of Ada, MN; brother, Allan Pederson; grandchildren: Michael (Amy), Ashley, Jenifer and Robert; great grandchildren: Delilah, Eden and Corinth; nieces and nephews: Lisa, Tina, Becky, Greg and Dennis,; and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Sr; son, Earl Jr; granddaughter, Heather Suzanne; and great granddaughter, Heather Grace.

Honoring her request, Cheryl was cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Grove Lutheran Church, rural Waubun, MN. A Time of Gathering will be held Friday, October 23, 2020 at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in Lake Grove Lutheran Cemetery, rural Waubun.

Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced, and all must wear a mask to participate.
