Charles "Chuck" Stotts, age 90, Ulen, MN,  died Thursday, July 26, 2018 in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Charles Edward Stotts was born the son of Cecil and Emma (Ellsworth) Stotts on December 8, 1927 in Wentworth, MO. He was raised with his family in Vinita, OK where he attended school there. As a young man, he worked in the community before entering the Army Air Corp in 1947. While in the service, Chuck worked as an aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged and moved to Whittier, CA where he was employed in the construction of several service stations. On June 1, 1949, Chuck was united in marriage to Joyce Peterson in Long Beach, CA. The couple made their home in La Mirada for over 45 years. During that time, Chuck worked as a carpenter in the construction field. He retired in the late 1970's and the couple continued to live in California. In 1995, they moved to Ulen to make their home in Joyce's hometown and to be near their son, Jim and his family. They have made their home there since.

A member of the Carpenters Union for more than 48 years, Chuck enjoyed his career as a carpenter. He had a passion to travel and camp with Joyce and his family. He appreciated spending a lot of time at their cabin in the mountains, wood working, and watching baseball. After moving to Ulen, he was active in the Ulen Senior Center, loved yard work, and enjoyed spending time in his garden. Chuck was a master mason, doing brick and stone work as a hobby for himself and friends for many years. He was a former member of the Elks and the Ulen VFW. Most of all, Chuck treasured his time with and the memories made with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Ulen, MN; one daughter, Patti McRae of Mission Viejo, CA; one son, Mike (Cherie) Stotts of Auburn, CA; daughter-in-law, Brigid (Greg) Stotts-Pender of Ulen, MN; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Ceilia (Robert) Karon of Laguna Niguel, CA. Chuck was preceded in death by two sons, Brian Jay and James; one brother, William; and three sisters, Helen, Margie and Jane.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at 11:00 am in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Active pallbearers will be Paul Thorp, Kirk Wilmore, Monte Ashmore, Joe Hendrickson, Donnie Hanson, and Bruce Tinjum. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Christianson, Orlyn Wang, Gisle Hilde, and Owen Braseth. Interment will take place at North Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen. Military rites provided by VFW Post #1223 and Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard.
