Charles A. Benbo, 98, of Winger, MN, died on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Essentia Health complications from cancer, Fosston, MN.
Charles Adrian Adair was born on October 9, 1914 to Norman and Mary (Still) Benbo in rural Fertile, MN. He attended the Scott and Hoffe Country Schools near his home. Following his schooling, Charles worked in the area. In 1941, he moved to California to work for Boeing Aircraft. In 1942, he entered the United States Army and served until 1945. He returned to Fertile and worked in road construction.
On January 6, 1951, Charles married Bernice Johnson in Fertile. Charles worked road construction for area contractors in Minnesota. He primarily operated a Cat and was referred to as the "Cat Skinner". During the winter months, Charles kept busy with odd jobs and keeping the birds fed. Charles retired in the early 1980's. After his son, Wayne, began his ice saw business, Charles assisted in the saws production. His son, Leslie, died in 2005, and his wife, Bernice, died 2011
Charles was an avid reader of newspapers & magazines. Watching current events on the various news channels kept Charles aware of issues and events, both locally and nationally. Playing whist with Mae (his sister) and Con made some great memories. Guests to Charles' home always had good conversation. He loved holiday meals and would comment after eating, "I'm full as a tick".
Charles is survived by: two sons, Bruce (Gwen) Benbo; Wayne Benbo, both of Winger, MN, one daughter, Annette (LeRoy) Halstad, Fertile, MN, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Alonzo, Winger, MN; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bernice and a son, Leslie Adair Benbo, brother, Bernard, and two sisters: Mae Chase and June Revi.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 10:30 at Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal, MN.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm in the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.

Burial will be in the Faaberg Lutheran Cemetery, Rindal, MN.
