Obituary

Charlene Ann Geray, 68, of Waubun, slipped into the arms of Jesus with her family at her side on Monday, May 1st, 2017. Charlene was born in Mahnomen to Harvey and Shirley Welle on October 16, 1948. She attended the Ahmann School for seven years, followed by high school at Mahnomen High School and graduated in 1966. She went on to earn a certificate in Cosmetology & Teaching and worked for several years in beauty shops. She taught at Joseph's School of Hair Design and managed the Moorhead Beauty College for three years before returning to the family farm in Waubun. She worked alongside her husband Cletus, who she married on October 21, 1967. They were married for nearly 50 years, and in those years she drove tractor, raising crops and three children, Jared, Shane, and Marcella. She took on extra jobs when she could. She loved her time spent caring for Sig Anderson in Mahnomen, working at the Shooting Star Casino, and driving for Heartland Express. Charlene served on the St. Joseph Parish Council. She loved Christmas, cooking, being in the tractor working the fields, designing, building and enjoying her new home. What she loved most of all was spending time with her family and friends, especially her eight grandchildren, Tristan, Jesse, Justin, Theresa, Mark, Emily, Sarah and Bethany. Charlene is survived by her mother, Shirley Winkler Welle; husband, Cletus Geray; sisters, Bonnie (Harley) Zimmel, Diane (Rodney) Rothschadl, and Melinda (Douglas) Dewey; brother-in-law, David Maier; foster brother, David Beaulieu; sons, Jared (Bonnie) and Shane; daughter, Marcella (Robert) Novak, and eight grandchildren. Charlene is preceded in death by her father, Harvey Welle; an infant sister Mary Margaret; sister, Geraldine Maier; and a niece, Amanda Dewey. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. John Tate of the Fergus Falls Cancer Care Center for his compassionate care and the Red River Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their support in her final days. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu, MN.
