Obituary

Cecil Pollock, age 73, of Ulen, MN, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006, in the Twin Valley Living Center.

Cecil Gerald Pollock was born November 26, 1932, to Benjamin and Edna (Jensen) Pollock, in Fargo, ND. He spent the first several years of his life in the Fargo area before moving with is family to Ulen in 1940. He attended Ulen High School until 11th grade at which time his father broke his leg and Cecil stayed home to help on the family farm. He later completed his education and entered the United States Air Force. He served his country as a communication specialist; serving oversees from 1955 through 1959. Upon his honorable discharge he traveled around the United States, spending much time in California, until returning Ulen. In 1962, Cecil married Carol Sather. The couple lived in Ulen and was blessed with four children. Cecil continued to live in Ulen and began working road construction. He worked as a heavy equipment operator until his mid-40's. He later worked for area farmers for many years. Cecil remained in his home until entering the Twin Valley Living Center in August of this year.

Cecil was a member of the Ulen VFW. He spent many hours reading, especially western novels, and in his younger years he liked to hunt. Cecil loved to farm; if he couldn't be actively doing farm work he enjoyed simply watching the harvest.

He is survived by two sons, Mark (Darla) of Twin Valley, and Ben (LeAnne) of Backus, MN; two daughters, Lorey (Vince Tucker) Bergstrom of Auburn, WA, and Sarah (Jeff) Lee of Fosston, MN; two brothers, Jim (Avis) of Omaha, NE, and Lawrence (JoAnn) of Ulen; one sister, Dorothy Warg of Elko, WI; nine grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

A Memorial Service was held Monday, August 14, 2006, at 10:00AM in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen, with Pastor Jeff McCracken officiating. Steve Lunde served as soloist and Penny Herzog was the organist. Serving as honorary bearers were Cecil's grandchildren; Natasha Bergstrom, and Holly Bergstrom, Tessa Pollock, Tara Pollock, Whitney Pollock, Tyler Pollock, Jesse Lee, Christian Lee, Katie Lee; and his great grandchildren, Deashaun and Alyssa Bergstrom. The Ulen American Legion and VFW Post #5115 provided military rites.
