Obituary

Catherine Ann Clark, age 83, of Waubun, MN, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at her home surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Catherine was born May 5, 1927 in White Earth, MN, the daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Anderson) McArthur Sr. She grew up in the White Earth area where she attended the Mission School. Following her schooling, Catherine worked at the Hall Store. On May 16, 1946, Catherine was united in marriage to Eugene Clark Sr. in Detroit Lakes, MN. They made their home in the White Earth and Ogema, MN areas before settling in Waubun. Catherine worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN, for many years, followed by McArthur Foods in Ogema. She was currently employed at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen where she had worked for the past 18 years.

Eugene and Catherine raised seven children of their own and many foster children. She would often take in family, friends, and help anyone who needed a place to stay or help getting back on their feet. Catherine's family, including her dog, Guido, their lives and well being were her number one priority and she left a lasting impression and influence on all. More than anything, she liked to follow her grandchildren's extracurricular activities and accomplishments. Catherine was a caregiver, always putting everyone before herself and going out of her way to help anyone in need. No matter how she was feeling she always had a loving smile and positive attitude. She was truly a remarkable lady that touched many lives and will be missed dearly by those who had the privilege to know her.

Some of Catherine's other past times included watching the MN Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, ricing, golfing, playing cards, and was always up for a good game of Bingo. Catherine was a long time member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Eugene Clark Sr.; four sons: Eugene (Grace) Clark Jr. and John "Bomber" (Kathy) Clark, both of Ogema, MN, Douglas (Pam) Clark of Mahnomen, MN, and Michael (Michelle) Clark of Dilworth, MN; three daughters: Rogene (Dennis) Clark, Donna (Ron) Spaeth, Carol (Bill) Bement, all of Waubun; brother, Darwin (Margaret) McArthur of Ogema; sisters, Gloria (Joe) Berry and Marcella (Don) Berry, both of Ogema; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
