Obituary

Carroll Swenson, 90, Fertile, MN, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home under the care of hospice.

Carroll Leo Swenson was born January 2 nd , 1929 to Sven August Swenson and Cora (Jacobson) Swenson.  After Gary Elementary School, he attended high school at the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston.  He joined the Army in 1952 and served with the Korean Military Advisory Group Motor Pool until he was discharged in 1954.  While in Korea, he exchanged letters with Joyce Nichols from Clawson, Michigan and they were eventually married on April 2, 1955.  After 10 years of dairy farming, he worked in the construction industry.  After his retirement, he enjoyed working and driving for local farmers.

Carroll loved planting and working in his garden every year and driving around the countryside, stopping to visit his friends and neighbors.  He also enjoyed mowing the lawn and keeping the yard in tip-top shape.  He loved tinkering in his shop and refurbishing old antiques and farm implements.  Carroll enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, and often spent parts of the winters with his daughters in warmer climates.

Carroll is survived by his wife, Joyce, and daughters Nancy (Bill) Korbl, Marstons Mills, MA, Jeanette Swenson, Fargo, ND, Patty Peshek, San Clemente, CA,  Laurie (John) Price, Chardon, OH, Karen (Michael) Lanners, Victoria, MN, and Diane (Chuck) Littlefield, Fertile, MN. He was also blessed with ten grandchildren; Blaine Korbl, Tye (Linnea) Korbl, Darren (Natalie) Peshek, Turell (Blake) Danson, Brandon and Jaret Price, Austin, Quinn, and Jack Lanners, and Kelli (Dave) Pawloski, and seven great-grandchildren, sister, Laverne Gibbins, brother, Dennis Swenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alta Loy and brother, Orvin Swenson.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Monday, August 12, 2019, at Concordia Lutheran  Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Interment: St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Fertile, MN.
