Carrie Fjeld, age 66, of Gary, MN died suddenly on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Carrie Ann Sundet, the daughter of John and Bernice (Sirjord) Sundet, was born on November 28, 1955, in Mahnomen, MN.  She was raised in Bear Park Township, near Gary.  Following her high school graduation, Carrie furthered her education in Fergus Falls, MN where she studied nursing.  As a young woman, she was employed with St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND for a time.  In 1976, Carrie was united in marriage to Lyle Fjeld at Ness Lutheran Church, rural Gary.  They lived in the Twin Valley area before building their home together, near Faith, MN in the early 1980's.  Carrie and Lyle were blessed with two children, Timothy and Trisha.  As a full-time mom, Carrie also worked at area nursing homes.  She returned to school and obtained her Registered Nursing Degree from Thief River Falls Technical College.  She continued to provide nursing care in surrounding communities, spending much of her employment in the Mahnomen, Ada, and Twin Valley care centers.  Carrie also cared for Lyle as his health declined, until his death in 2019.  She had just begun her career at the Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, MN.  Carrie had a witty personality, liked to visit, and told stories well.  She was treasured by those she cared for and worked with in the nursing homes. She enjoyed the outdoors, and in their younger years, they spent many days fishing and camping as a family She also liked to cook, garden, and simply be in the comfort of her own home. Carrie was truly a caregiver at heart, and cherished her dogs, her family, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Timothy and granddaughter, Hailey Fjeld; daughter, Trisha (Alantis) DeOliveira and grandchildren, Lena and Isaiah DeOliveira; two brothers, John (Nita) Sundet, and Rodney (Gayle) Sundet; a sister-in-law, Debra (Steve) Winter; and two brothers-in-law, Cliff Fjeld and Roger (Belinda) Fjeld; as wells as many nieces and nephews.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bernice Sundet, her husband, Lyle Fjeld, and her sister-in-law, Dixie Fjeld.

Inurnment will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 10:00am at St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Twin Valley, Minnesota.
