Carole L. Stoltenow, 92, of Ada, MN, died Friday, April 18, 2025 at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, MN, under the care of her family and hospice.
Carole Stoltenow, born January 31, 1933, in Sikeston, MO. was the only child of Robert and Connie (nee Randol) Bradley. Carole was raised in Bismarck, North Dakota for most of her childhood after living in a variety of locations during her father's military service in the Army during WWII. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith in the Methodist Church. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1951 after which she attended Carlton College in Northfield, MN for a year before entering the University of North Dakota, graduating 1956 with a teaching degree in Accounting and related office skills. While at UND, she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Carole taught accounting, shorthand and typing at Wahpeton High School in Wahpeton, ND, beginning in 1957. While in Wahpeton, she met Raymond Stoltenow and they were married on August 9, 1958. They resided in Wahpeton until 1961. Ray and Carole moved to Ada, MN in 1961 and owned Ada Rexall Drug for 30 years. Carole was an at-home mom until 1977 when she began teaching accounting and typing at Ada High School until 1982. Carole and Ray were blessed with two children, Brad (Jodie) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Mary Scholz (Rick) of Woodbury, MN; five grandchildren, Anna (Morgan), Kylie (Matt), Joe (Viya), Sam, (Jenna) and Baylee (Colden); and seven great grandchildren, Willa, Asher, Aksel, Ray, Ellianna, Emersyn and Miles.
Carole belonged to the Methodist Church in Ada before becoming a member of Zion Lutheran Church in which she was an active member teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and leading adult Bible classes. She was an active member of several Circles at Zion. She was a member of the Ada Garden Club, chaired the Ada One-fund Drive, was a Cub Scout and Brownie leader, and was a member of two Bridge clubs. Carole enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, knitting, embroidery, cross stitching, and needle point. She crafted many sweaters, blankets, mittens, hats, and scarves. She loved to embroider dish towels. She was an avid baker and her chocolate chip cookies, Christmas cookies, caramels, and apple pies were her specialties among many other goodies. Carole enjoyed time with family and guests at the family's cabin at White Earth Lake, MN and spent many hours fishing with Ray.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Connie Bradley; and her beloved husband, Ray Stoltenow.

Funeral service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN. With Rev. Dr. Brad Stoltenow officiating.
Visitation: one hour before the funeral at the church.
Interment: Ada, Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
