Carol Ann Wright, age 57, of Bagley, MN, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Sanford Health Systems in Fargo, ND.

Carol Thompson was born August 9, 1953 in Bagley, MN, the daughter of Lester and Marceline (Goodwin) Thompson. She grew up in Bagley and graduated with the class of 1971. Following graduation, Carol attended college in Albuquerque, NM, and later received her LPN degree from Bemidji Tech. She moved back to the Bagley area and began working at the North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji as a nurse. While working at the hospital, Carol met Terry Wright. They were married and together had one daughter, Misty. The couple also adopted Tia and Sophia, in 1999 as their daughters. Terry died in 1991 and Carol continued working as a nurse. In addition, Carol also worked as a matron for Clearwater County Sheriff's Office for many years. In the early 90's, she worked as a security guard at the Shooting Star Casino, where she met Randy Scott. The two married, but would later divorce. Carol's passion for being a caregiver took her back to the health care field. She was currently working at the Jourdain/Perpich Extended Care Center in Red Lake, MN.

Carol's career as a nurse was not only a job, but a way of life as a wonderful caregiver. She was a very compassionate individual who would always put others before herself and gave selflessly of her time and talents for the betterment of others. Over the years, Carol, took in many foster children and proudly participated as a loving mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. However, Carol was also a jokester and prankster with quite the sense of humor. She was always doing something to make people laugh and lighten their day. She also enjoyed reading, music, watching Survivor and Big Brother spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, when time allowed. Carol was a faithful servant and her Christianity was a very important part of her daily life. May her spirit live on in all the lives she touched.


Carol is survived by her two daughters, Tia and Sophia Wright, both of Bagley; five grandchildren: Misten, Memphis, Isaac, Logan and Anthony III; one brother, Calvin (Charlene) Thompson, Bagley; two sisters, Gloria (Jim) LaFriniere, Bagley, and Jenny Swenson, Brainerd, MN; nieces that were like daughters, Tracy and Angel Thompson, Michelle Frederick and her girls, Jessica and Jandy and the newest addition to the family, lil Misty Brechelle. Carol's extended family consists of several aunts, uncles, additional nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, which include very special people: Denice Iverson, Bev Midbo, Tim & Tammy Brown, Tim Fultz, Dale Danks, Lu Iverson, Grandpa Bob and two of her late cousins, Roberta Cox and Shelby Danks.


Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Terry; her daughter, Misty, in 1994; her parents and grandparents, Carrie and John Thompson and Tom and Bessie Goodwin; and step-father, Chuck Halvorson.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11 am at Faith Hill Assembly of God, Bagley, MN. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 12th from 5-8 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at the Rice Lake Area Fellowship Church, Rice Lake, MN.

Interment will be at Bagley City Cemetery in Bagley, MN.
