Carol Stordahl, age 94, of Winger, MN, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fosston, MN. Carol Tremaine Ingberg, the daughter of Clarence and Tomina (Ostreng) Ingberg, was born on August 16, 1923, at home near Hendrum, MN. She was raised in the Hendrum area where she attended school. After graduating from high school, Carol attended Concordia College for a year followed by North Dakota Interstate College. As a young woman she worked for a time at a local music school, which heartened her love of music and playing the piano. On June 15, 1947 Carol was united in marriage to Jerold Stordahl. The couple made their first home in Moorhead, then moved back to Hendrum where they farmed together. They also lived a short time in Waubun, MN, before making a move to Winger in the early 1970's. In 1975, Jerold died suddenly and Carol became a widow and single mother with five of her eight children still at home. She stayed steadfast in her faith and persevered. In addition to raising her own family and babysitting for others, Carol worked at Pete's Café and cleaned the bank in Winger. Carol also dutifully served as organist at both the Calvary Lutheran Church and Gosen Lutheran Church for many years, still currently playing every Sunday. At nearly 90 years old, Carol sold the farm and moved into Park View Apartments in Winger where she has made her home since. Carol's hands were never idle and she always stayed busy. She was very active with her church families where she served on the Ladies Aid and circle groups. She also enjoyed getting together with the quilters, baking, and working various church events. Carol loved to read and work in her flower gardens as much as she was able. She was so very proud of her children and grandchildren. She was honored that they lived so near and were a constant presence in her everyday life. Carol's gentle spirit and the many wonderful memories will always be cherished. Carol is survived by two sons: Jerold "Jerry" (Marilyn) Stordahl of Halstad, MN, and Timothy Stordahl of Fosston; five daughters: Debra Matson of Winger, MN, Susan (David) Christianson of Erskine, MN, Cindy Horvath of Winger, MN, Becky (Lori) Stordahl of Winger, MN, and Candace Stordahl of Pensacola, FL; a daughter-in-law, Debra Stordahl of Perley, MN; one sister, Ardis Zantek of St. Paul, MN; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, David; one son-in-law, Larry Matson; and her brother, Allan. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Winger, MN. Visitation will take place one hour before the funeral on Friday. Burial will be at Pontoppidan Cemetery, rural Hendrum, MN.
