Carol Ann (Shawstad, Larson) Norrs was born on August 8, 1937 to Clarence and Ethel Shawstad in Waukon Township, Norman County Minnesota. She died November 18, 2023.
Carol graduated from Fertile High School in 1955. Her career path began with the city of Moorhead in a clerical/secretarial capacity. She had a long successful career working for Northwest Airlines for 33 plus years. She started as a clerk, became a secretary for a VP and was a Lead Work Control Clerk for the company.
Those 33 years coincided with her marriage to Olgar Kenneth (OK) Larson. He died in 1999.
Carol thoroughly enjoyed square dancing for many years. She served as a co-president for a weekly club and she possessed numerous beautiful square dance costumes.
She served as the Secretary/Treasurer for a military reunion group...the U.S. Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the "Sea Bees."
Carol was the treasurer for a Mercedes car club and she also held season tickets to the Vikings!
Carol reconnected with David Jerome Norrs when trying to track down some classmates for their 50th reunion. They both had lost their previous mates in 1999. They married in 2001 and had 7 years together before David died in 2008. They were members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mesa, Arizona.
In her application for a volunteer position with the Mesa Police Department she declared that she enjoyed the volunteering at her church the most! Square dancing and reading mystery novels were listed as her hobbies and interests. Carol volunteered with the Mesa Police for four years. She was nominated for their "Takin' Care of Business" award!
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Garry; and sister, Janet Mackowick.
Carol is survived by her sister, Diane (Larry) Parsons; nieces, Lisa Parsons Grant (Jim), Cindy Parsons Boushack, and Laurie Mackowick Chase; nephews, David Mackowick (Carolyn) and Jim Mackowick (Virginia); as well as extended family members and friends.
