Carol Ann Myers, age 85, of Ada, MN, formerly of Borup, MN, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Born on January 10, 1939, St. Ansgar Hospital, Moorhead, MN, Carol was the only child of Clarence and Evelyn (Berg) Hovland. She graduated from Borup High School with the class of 1957, and went on to attend business school. Carol was employed for a time as a secretary in the Fargo-Moorhead area, and later began working on the Kroshus farm, which is where she fell in love with Roger Myers. The couple was united in marriage on February 17, 1962, and shortly thereafter, purchased the farm. Together, they made their home west of Borup and raised their family Scott, Robbi, and Mike. A dedicated farm wife and mother, Carol balanced her family life with many years of bartending in the Borup community, where her warmth and ability to connect with people shined through. She possessed a wonderful listening ear, and made countless friendships throughout her life. In her earlier years she was known to many as "Bumpy".
Carol was a member of Bethania Lutheran Church for many years and later became a cherished member of Winchester Lutheran Church, where she served on the council, ladies' aide, and various committees. She was also a founding member of the Borup Community Club and took great pride and support of her hometown. An avid gardener, Carol was known for her beautiful flower gardens and received several awards for her gardens. She loved driving her Ford Mustang convertible and enjoyed spending time on the open road. As Roger's health failed, she moved to Ada to be closer to him. Following his death in July 2023, Carol remained in Ada, but often returned to the farm to check in on her sons and stay connected to those strong, farm roots. With her keen fashion sense, Carol always made it a point to look her best. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who remember her for her kindness, her strength, and her vibrant spirit. She will also be remembered for her many delicious meals of potato dumplings and ham.
Carol is survived by her sons: Scott of Scottsdale, AZ, Robbi (Jennifer) of Borup, and Mike (Kim) of Perley, MN; seven grandchildren: Taylor (Chelsea) Myers, Jordan (Casey) Krieger, Paige (Mike Hoban) Myers, Andy, Brianne, Claire, and Ryan Myers; four great grandchildren: Carter, Barrett, Beau, and Emmett; a brother-in-law, Carl (Janelle) Myers; and sisters-in-law, Donna Hoverman and Mona (Don) Skaurud.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Hovland and Evelyn Berg; her husband, Roger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Floyd (Delane) Myers, Harold Myers, Leroy Myers, Frank (Margaret) Myers, Ida (Don) Tyler, Lillian (Winnie) Shaide.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Winchester Lutheran Church in Borup, MN. A time of gathering will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Winchester Lutheran Church from 5:00pm until 7:00 pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 pm.
