Watch Carol's Funeral Mass

Carol Buschette, age 78, of Mahnomen, MN, died Monday, May 18, 2020, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Carol Kay Lemna, the daughter of Lawrence and Margaret (Linzbach) Lemna was born on April 29, 1942, in Enderlin, ND.  She grew up in Enderlin, where she attended school and graduated with the class of 1960.  Following high school, Carol went to work at the local bank.  Through mutual friends, she met the love of her life, Christopher "Ed" Buschette.  On September 10, 1966, the couple was united in marriage, also in Enderlin. They then made their home on the farm in Mahnomen, where they worked side by side and raised a family.  Although Carol was a busy mom, she was a very active member of St. Michael's Church and the community.  She was very strong in her faith which was evident in her day to day living.  Carol often prayed the Rosary, had daily devotions, and sang as a cantor for 60 plus years at Mass and funerals.  She was a part of the ladies aid and the Catholic Daughters Court St. Justin #2020.  Carol was incredibly passionate about her work with the MCCL, Meals on Wheels, the Historical Society and the Red Hatters.  She was a member of the local Homemarker's Club and a Whist Card Club.  Carol enjoyed singing at the nursing home, bonfires, dancing in her younger years and recently, traveling with her friend, Chet. Although she liked to stay busy, spending time with family was her greatest joy. She loved her children and grandchildren and was able to pass many of her wonderful qualities on to her family.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carol is survived by two sons, Mike (Carla) of  Moorhead, MN, Matthew (Hillary) of Detroit Lakes, MN; three daughters: Patty (Shawn) Paul of Mora, MN, Lynn Buschette of Hawley, MN, and Jennifer (Randy) Hanson of Watertown, SD; five grandchildren: Tim (Trent Gehrig, friend) Paul, Kirsti (Derek) Heffta, Melissa (Tiffany) Lokken, Stacy Buschette, and Christopher (fiancé Paige Hodne) Buschette; five great-grandchildren: Maci, Charlotte "Charli", Easton, Colton and Neveah; five sisters: Helen Tellinghusen of Rapid City, SD, Doris Schultz of Lisbon, ND, Joyce Wegsheid of Perham, MN, Donna (Bob) Ikelman of Dixon, CA, and Darlene Frederick of Bismarck, ND; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Margaret; husband, Ed; six brothers: Kenneth "Bud", Leo, Dale, Dennis, Robert, and Richard "Dick" Lemna; three sisters: Margaret "Peggy" Chesley, Joan Lemna and Elizabeth "Betty" Kuhn.

A Private Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. A video recording of the funeral will be available on our website, shortly following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be given to St. Michael's Catholic School.
