Cameron Agnew, age 86, of Mahnomen, MN, died Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley, MN. Cameron John Agnew was born October 20, 1931, in Fosston, MN, the son of Horace and Florence (Cameron) Agnew. He was raised near Mahnomen where he attended school. As a young man, Cameron proudly served his country, entering the United States Navy on January 16, 1951. On December 17, 1954, he was honorably discharged and returned to Mahnomen. In 1956, Cameron attended school in Minneapolis, MN, to become a barber. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Juhl and the couple had three children. They lived in Montana, where Cameron worked as a barber. They later divorced and Cameron moved back to Mahnomen and took over his grandfather, John Agnew's, barber shop. In April of 1965, Cameron married Carol Neustel-Marshall and they made their home in Mahnomen. For a short time, they lived in Fort Collins, CO, before relocating back to Mahnomen, where Cameron started a 25-year career as a Veteran's Service Officer for Mahnomen County. After retiring in January of 2002, he remained in Mahnomen until he entered the nursing home last July. Cameron had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to visit and socialize, stopping in for coffee at all the local business'. He was never short on words and kept everyone entertained with various humorous stories. Over the years, he enjoyed horses and in recent years, nap time. Cameron was actively involved in the American Legion and was a past Commander. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Cameron is survived by his wife, Carol of Mahnomen; daughters, Chris (Paul) Simon also of Mahnomen, and Kari Agnew-Schwab of Dilworth, MN; sons, Jay (Stacy) Agnew of Mahnomen, and Rodney (Rosemary) Agnew of Lake Elsinore, CA; six grandchildren: Joleen, Adam, Derek, Nick, Keanen and Abby; six great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Dawson, Khloe, Dominic, Dreyton and Emmitt; one sister-in-law, Marilyn "Babe" Agnew of Mahnomen, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chuck Agnew.
