Byron C. Omang, age 56, of Mahnomen, MN, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 13, 2018, at his daughter's home in Hawley, MN.

Byron Charles Omang was born March 11, 1962, in Mahnomen, MN, to Clayton and Valeria (Brtek) Omang.  He grew up in the Mahnomen area and graduated high school with the class of 1981.  Following high school, Byron entered the work force in the construction field.  In 1984, he was united in marriage to Lynn Lhotka.  They made their home in Waubun, MN, and were blessed with four children.  The couple later divorced but remained friends.  Over the years, Byron worked as an over the road truck driver for different companies.  He was currently employed by TDS Trucking out of Fertile, MN.

As an outdoors enthusiast, Byron enjoyed everything it had to offer, especially hunting and fishing.  He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  If there was a prank to be played you could often count on Byron being the mastermind.  He had a great sense of humor and knew how to get you to crack a smile.  Although gone from this life to soon, he will live on forever in the hearts of those who were privileged enough to know him.

Byron is survived by his children: Ryan (Tracee) Omang of Waubun, MN, Mylee Omang of Moorhead, MN, and Kyla (Josh) Soland of Hawley, MN; three grandchildren: Brylee and Krue Omang and Clayton Soland; his parents, Valeria (Richard) Pavlish of Bejou; two brothers: Bruce (Joyce) Omang of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Duane Pavlish of Fosston, MN; three sisters: Vicky Heyen also of Detroit Lakes, Debbie (Dave) Johnson of Alexandria, MN, and Darcy (Randy) Qual of Mora, MN; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton, and a son, Tylor.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mahnomen, MN.  Visitation will take place at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
