Burnell Hanson, age 90, of Winger, MN, died on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society-Blackduck, MN.

Burnell was born on March 15, 1935, in Winger, MN, to Hjalmar and Myrtle (Wold) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Burnell attended Gossen Country School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN, in 1952. She then moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked at Allstate Insurance Company, retiring in 1990.

Burnell loved spending time with family and friends, fishing at the family cabin on Upper Red Lake and attending Minnesota Twins and Vikings games.

In 1990, Burnell relocated to Florence, AZ, where she resided for 19 years, returning to Minnesota to spend her summers on the farm in Winger. She traveled throughout the state of Arizona and loved the beautiful desert and mountains. Her three trips to Sweden were the highlights of her life. In 2009, Burnell moved back to Minnesota and settled in Bemidji, MN, until her health began to fail. She spent her last years at the Good Samaritan Home in Blackduck until her passing.

Burnell is survived by her brother, Paul Hanson and his wife, Diane; sister-in-law, Sarajane Hanson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Donald Hanson and Gerald Hanson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society-Blackduck. A Time of Fellowship will be held following the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Lima Cemetery, rural Winger.
