Bruce Wayne
Sargent
Nov 22, 1946 — Sep 24, 2024
Bruce Wayne Sargent, 77, passed away peacefully with his adoring wife at his side on September 24, 2024 at Essentia Hospital in Ada, MN.
Bruce was born to Roy and Ruby (Lura) Sargent on November 22, 1946 in Ada, MN. He grew up in Ada and graduated from Ada High School. He married Susen Miller on August 22, 1967. They made their home in Ada and brought three children into their family. Bruce and Susen later divorced. Bruce then met the love of his life, Tammy Balzum. After a short courtship they were joined together in marriage on August 26, 1995. With that marriage Bruce received two bonus children.
Bruce worked at various lumber yards throughout his days. He started at Wilcox and ended with UBC in Ada. He and his first wife owned and operated the Outpost Drive Inn in Ada from 1978 until their divorce. Most recently Bruce became the delivery man or as his wife says, her "Partner in crime" at the flower shop.
Bruce was a very talented carpenter and created many beautiful HOPE chests for his children as well as many other woodworking projects. When he built something, it did NOT fall apart. He loved to "tinker." He was known to create lasers and show the grandkids how to burn things, or supe up a motorized wheelchair so the grandkids had something fun to do. He taught them to love animals with love of pigeons and rabbits. Bruce had an amazing sense of humor and was notorious for his stories. He kept his family in stitches. He also watched a few Disney movies with the grandkids in his life. The Emperor's New Groove had him laughing so hard he fell out of the chair. He was an avid gardener and raised corn, pumpkins, squash and raspberries that he would share with whomever wanted to come pick them. He made many special memories with his grand/great grandkids but what they all will remember most were the popsicles with jokes on the stick. You never got out of his house without eating something, whether it be a popsicle, jellybeans, mambas, or yellow apples. He even enjoyed some popcorn with his "Grand puppies."
Bruce loved his 5 kids, 17 grandkids, and 15 great grandkids. They never doubted his love for them and were always excited to go see Papa Bruce and Curly Grandma. He definitely was a wonderful example of unconditional love. Bruce's parents named him appropriately according to his family, they felt in their hearts that he was a superhero and many of them have tattoos with the batman symbol because of him.
Bruce will be deeply missed by his wife, Tammy; his 5 children, Lee (Jodi) Sargent, Tracy (Kelly) Stene, Sara (Craig) Sargent-Bentley, Ginny (Sean) Cheatley, and Michael (Tyelyn) Erickson; his 17 grandkids, Andrew (Jessica) Sargent, Taylor (Danielle) Sargent, Nikolas (Alyssa) Sargent, Blade Sargent, Raegan Sargent, Lacy Sargent, Patryk (Tosh) Stene, Karenna (Jason) Bartlett, Alecsander (Toni) Stene, Jeremiah Stene, Solomon Stene, Nathan Nelson, Dakota Nelson, Jada Nelson, Ryan Bentley, Cara Cheatley, and PJ Erickson; and his 15 great grandchildren, Adriana Sargent, Journey and River Sargent, Abby, Atlas, and Kailer Sargent, Lybby, Braxton, and Kenna Stene, Gavyn Stene and Quinlyn Bartlett, Jalen Stene, Gianna Stene, and Alexis Stene. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Sargent; sister, Bonnie (Jerry) Holen; and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; 6 siblings; and his special great grandson, Kade Stene.
Memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any charity that is special to you.
