Bradley Ekeland, age 60, of Casselton, N.D. formerly of Mentor, MN. passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, N.D.


Bradley Alan Ekeland was born September 23,1958 the son of Harlan and Phyllis (Knepper) Ekeland at Bemidji, MN. As his Father was in the Air Force, he lived in a number of states and spent 2 1⁄2 years in Ankara, Turkey. They returned to the United States in 1966 and made Grand Forks, ND their home. Bradley graduated from Red River with the Class of 1977. During high school and for some time afterwards he cooked for the Highway Host restaurant. He came to know Charlene Evenson over a game of pool and was hooked for life. They married November 15, 1980 in Grand Fork, N.D. where they made their home. Brad and Char eventually moved to Ulen, MN in 1994 to raise their family in a smaller community. Bradley worked in the drywall business. He was employed by a commercial contractor and then went into business with his brother n law, Bradley Evenson. They repaired many damaged flood properties after the flood of 97'. Brad and Char divorced in 2000 but remained friends until his passing. Brad made Mentor, MN his home before moving to Casselton, N.D after being diagnosed with lung cancer. In the short time Brad lived in Casselton he began calling it home. Every weekend was spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He even found a liking for bingo and it started to become a Saturday evening tradition with his children. Brad also had a love for his recliner and watching NCIS, NASCAR, Twins Baseball and David Jeremiah. He had a strong faith in God and it carried him through to the end. He always said "It's all in God's hands".

Brad is survived by two daughters; Kaia (James) Askelson, Ulen, MN and Ashley (Nate) Olson of Wheatland, N.D; three sons: Ryan (Alyssa DiOrio), Mauston, WI, Casey and Ethan Ekeland, both of Moorhead, MN; two sisters, Cheryl (Donovan) Wadholm, Grand Forks, N.D., Roxanne, (Patrick) Deziel, Mentor, MN;one brother, Brian (Doris) Ekeland, Durango, CO; and 10 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
