Obituary

Blanche Iverson, 88 of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Mahnomen, MN, died on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.

Blanche Marion Dusa was born June 5, 1924 at home in Mahnomen County, to Martin and Elizabeth (Humenik) Dusa. She spent her early years growing up near MahKonce; then moved with her family to Mahnomen when she was 10. Blanche attended school in Mahnomen and graduated with the class of 1942. Following high school, Blanche moved to California to be near her sweetheart, Bennett Iverson, who was serving in the Army. On March 11, 1943 Blanche was united in marriage to Bennett in Chico, CA. The couple made their first home together in California where Blanche worked in a donut shop while Bennett served in the Pacific. After Bennett's discharge, they returned to Mahnomen where they resided for over 55 years. While living in Mahnomen, Blanche worked for Berge's Store and later at Agnes & Mildred' Dress Shop but she will be remembered by most as the "Avon Lady"; which she sold for 60 years. In 2005, Blanche and Bennett moved to Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead. Bennett died in November of 2009 and Blanche continued to make her home at Eventide.

In life, Blanche was the epitome of joy and friendship. She loved to visit with anyone and everyone. Making friends was her strength. Simply put, she loved people, especially her parents, husband, children, grandchildren, great-grand-children, brothers and sister. Blanche enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing, golfing, walking and biking, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She liked to joke and had a great sense of humor. Blanche was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen where she was active with Circle and Ladies' Aide and taught Confirmation, Thursday school and Sunday school for many years.

Blanche is survived by her son, Bob (Jane) Iverson, Glyndon, MN; daughter Jean (LeRoy) Lamb, Palm Bay, FL; four grandchildren: Laura (Wilson) Hickman, Jill (Mark) Bowen, Brian Iverson and Brad (Sarah) Iverson; five great-grandchildren: Kaylee and Kelsey Blyth, Tyler and Hannah Bowen, Ted Iverson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Bill and Martin; a sister, Margaret Hurd.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00am on Friday, January 4, 2013, at First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen. Visitation was held one hour prior to the Funeral Service. Burial was at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Mahnomen.
