Birdie L. (Bartz) Wheeler's Obituary
Birdie Louise (Bartz) Wheeler, 98, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, March 25, 2015 at Sumner Place in Lincoln, NE. Birdie was born November 1, 1916 in Lockhart, MN to Lizzie and Gust Bartz, and was lovingly raised in Lockhart by Tillie and Rhinehart Wilkens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Alice and her husband Edwin Stauning and Alfred and his wife Gladys Bartz, and her beloved husband of 65 years, Jordan S. Wheeler.
She is survived by her three children, Jim Wheeler and his wife Meg, The Villages, FL; Virginia Smith and her husband Doug, Lincoln, NE; Julie Rydh and her husband Ron, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren James Jason Wheeler and his wife Pam, St. Paul, MN; Matthew Jordan Wheeler and his wife Emily, Waverly, IA; Cara Rydh, Coon Rapids, MN; and eight great grand children Julianna, Jessica, Jaimie, Jenevieve, Elijah and Madeline Wheeler, and Gavin and Chloe Rydh.
Birdie was a graduate of North Dakota State University, and was a teacher of home economics and science. She was active in church and community activities, and especially loved her B.S.F . (Bible Study Fellowship.) She excelled at the domestic arts, sewing, crocheting, cooking, quilting, and all sorts of crafts. Birdie and Jordan were faithful members of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston, MN, and Lutheran Church of the Master in Brooklyn Center, MN.
Memorial Service will be held on May 8, 2015 at
1:00PM at Lutheran Church of the Master, 1200 69th Ave. North, Brooklyn Center, MN.
Visitation on May 9, 2015 from 1:30 to 2:30PM at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, 700 E. Thorpe Ave., Ada, MN.
Graveside Service and interment on May 9, 2015 at 3:00PM, Pleasant View Cemetery, Lockhart, MN.
Reception following interment at First English Church, Lockhart, MN.
