Watch Bev's Memorial Service

Beverly Luckow, age 85, of Mahnomen, MN went to heaven on Monday, December 25, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  What a glorious gift she received… to spend Christmas with Jesus.

Beverly Ann Wolbeck was born on November 14, 1938 in Oak Grove Township to Norbert and Helga (Vik) Wolbeck at their home. Bev attended school in Waubun, graduating with the class of 1956 as class valedictorian. On June 16, 1956, Bev married the love of her life, Rodger Luckow. They exchanged vows at Oak Grove Church and made their home in various locations, until settling in Mahnomen. Over the years, Bev worked at the Red Owl Grocery Store and then as a bookkeeper for Lee Electric in Mahnomen until she retired.

Bev held her family dear, finding joy in their company. She proudly held the title of Yahtzee champion in the Luckow family. Her interests included fishing, snowmobiling, leisurely drives to explore the countryside, card games, reading, and crocheting. She also took pleasure tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. In more recent times, Bev and Rodger found delight in sitting on the deck, appreciating the flowers and observing hummingbirds flying around the feeders.

Bev embraced everyone she encountered with warmth and open-heartedness. Her reputation was built on her kindness, hospitality, and the radiance of her beautiful smile. Actively involved in the First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen, she contributed to the community by serving on the Ruth/Esther Circle and making history as the first woman to serve as a Deacon. Bev cherished the friendships she cultivated throughout her journey.

Bev was preceded in death by two children, Mary and Brian; one foster granddaughter, Alexzandra; her parents; two brothers, Tom and Donald; and other loved family members.

Bev is survived by her husband, Rodger Luckow; children: Sherie (Curt) Nelson, Lori (Mark Hirschel) Luckow, David (Sherri) Luckow, Steven (Cindy) Luckow, and Doreen (Scott) Thurston; grandchildren: Zachary (Andrea Nelson) Malcolm, Jessica (Jeremy) Heim, Adam (Molly Anderson) Nelson, Warren Luckow, Katahna Bosley, and Kathryn Thurston; step grandchildren: Chad (Kim) Neisen, Jeanie (Rob) Troy and Lloyd (Amanda) Neisen; great-grandchildren: Eli, Avery, Riley, Nash and Oliver; brother, Jerome (Sharon) Wolbeck; sisters, Midge Nelson and Bonnie (Tom) Sobieck; and many other family members.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm, with a visitation starting one hour before, at First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen.
