Obituary

Bernice Wang, age 80, of Ulen, Minnesota, died Friday, March 20, 2009 in her home under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Bernice Luckason was born April 6, 1928 at Hawley, Minnesota the daughter of Selmer and Veronica (Hunt) Luckason. She was raised in Hawley, Minnesota and attended school there. Bernice graduated from the Hawley High School with the class of 1946 and later attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. As a young woman she was employed at the Merchants National Bank in Fargo for a few years. On July 3, 1953 she was united in marriage to Parnell Wang in Hawley, Minnesota. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Ulen where they purchased a farm. Parnell died in 2001 and Bernice had continued to make her home on the farm since.
Bernice was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was involved in ladies aid and quilting. She was also a member of a homemakers group. Bernice loved flowers and tending her flower gardens, being outdoors working in her yard, and enjoyed song birds and everything that nature has to offer. She also loved to go shopping with her daughter and granddaughters and treasured spending time with all of her family.
Bernice is survived by one daughter, Cindy (Charles) McCarthy, Ulen, MN two sisters, Dorothy Holland, Barnesville, MN and Maydell Malme, Wahpeton, ND, three grandchildren, Jacob, Kaija and Karie, and two great grandchildren, Bryce and Aubrey.
Funeral services was held Thursday, March 26th at 11:00 am in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen, MN.
