Bernice Vanderlinden, 92, Ada, Minnesota, died Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.
Bernice was born at home near Twin Valley, MN, on September 11, 1921, to John and Marie (Bauman) Schroeder. She attended country school until the 8th grade, then assisted at home with her siblings. Bernice was united in marriage to Clifford Vanderlinden on December 27, 1939, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mahnomen, MN. They made their home in the Twin Valley and Gary, MN, area all their life. Bernice worked at the Ada Bakery and for various potato farmers in the area every fall. She also did babysitting for family and many friends when needed.
Bernice was born and raised in the Lutheran faith. She was a member of First Evanger Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Fertile, MN, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved gardening, sewing, crafts and baking. She was known as the "Donut Lady" making donuts for Gary Bingo and friends.
She is survived by five sons: Clifford Jr. "Lindy" of Rexburg, ID, Clayton "Larry" (Laurie) of Elbow Lake, MN, Claire "Sonny" of Ada, Curtis (Connie) of Elk River, MN, and Craig "Bub" (Lana) of Ada; one daughter, Carole "Sue" (Douglas) Munson of Gary, MN; two sisters: Eileen (William) Burns, and Mildred "Babs" Johnson, Marysville, WA, 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband Clifford, 2 brothers, Burton Schroeder and John Schroeder, 2 sisters, Beulah Turner and Lucille Schroeder, her son, Conrad "Butch", and 3 grandchildren, Angela Vanderlinden, James Vanderlinden, and Troy Munson.
Memorial Service: 2:00pm, Monday, January 20, 2014, at Mission Court Chapel at the Benedictine Living Community of Ada.
Visitation: One hour before the service at Mission Court Chapel.
Burial: First Evanger Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
