Obituary

Bennie LeRoy Sandhofner Sr., 73, Hendrum, MN passed away peacefully Thursday August 4th 2011, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Bennie was born October 30, 1937, to Bennie and Lila Sandhofner of Butte, ND. He remained there throughout his youth and graduated from Butte High School in 1955. After high school he attended Minot State University, earning his Associates Degree in teaching. He was employed by Nash Finch for 43 years, retiring in 2000. Bennie also served 2 years in the US Army.

He moved to Fargo in 1970, and on July 23, 1971, he married Lynnette King. They lived in Fargo until moving to Hendrum, MN in 2000.

Bennie and Lynnette were blessed with 6 children. He loved taking his boys fishing and bowling. He enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren, always good for a story about when he was a kid on the farm riding horses or his high school basketball days. He was quick-witted and always a happy guy to be around. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched.

He is survived by his wife Lynnette, 6 sons, Rodney (Angela) Shaleen, Fargo, ND, Steven, Duluth, MN, Scott (Laurie) Shaleen, Minot, ND, Douglas (Melissa) Shaleen, Kingston, WA, Bennie Jr. (Tracy), Kindred, ND, and Chad, Fargo, ND, 13 grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren, and several cherished nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Lila, and his sister Judy Flemming.
