Benedict William Bement, Jr., was born August 1, 1933, to Ben Sr. and Alma (Wambach) Bement in Detroit Lakes, MN. He attended school in Waubun, MN, through 8 ^th grade and belonged to St. Ann's Catholic Church. On August 1, 1953, he married Sandra Ann Meece and they were blessed with four children. After 48 years of marriage, Sandy passed away in 2001. Over the years, Ben worked various jobs including sand and gravel and heavy machine operator with plumbing and heating being the longest and most recent. He was scout master for Troop #677 in Waubun and always active in area churches. Ben married Anne Hull in 2003 and they made their home together at Elbow Lake. He was in the Fosston nursing home until 2014 at which time he moved to Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes to be closer to family.

He is survived by his wife Anne; three daughters: Denise (Roger) Bentley of Twin Valley, Candase (Myron) Jensen of Waubun and Erin (Steve) Bement of Corpus Christi, TX, one son, Ben (Jodi) Bement III of Ogema, MN; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; three sisters: Marilyn Pavek, Colleen Blattenbauer, and Barb (Ed) Syverson, all of Waubun; a sister-in-law, Lois Bement; five step children; 16 step grandchildren; 22 step grandchildren; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy; two grandsons, Jacob and Andrew Bentley; two brothers, Ted Bement, Gene (Carol) Bement; a sister Nona (Walter) Stalberger; an infant brother, Richard; and one brother-in-law, Lloyd Pavek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30pm, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN. Interment will take place at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Waubun, MN.
