Beatrice K. "Bea" Steinmetz, aged 92, died February 23, 2017 at Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park, MN.
Bea was born May 31, 1924 to John Sr and Mary (Adams) Pavek, she great up in Waubun, MN, graduating from Waubun High School. Bea married Earl (Teck) Steinmetz on July 12, 1944, and together they raised 6 children while living on their family farm in Mahnomen.
After Earl's passing in 1986, she began volunteering at Mahnomen Elementary School, making countless contributions over the course of 13 years in support of the teachers and administration of Mahnomen Public Schools.
She relocated to the Plymouth, MN area in 1999, following a serious illness. Once settled, she sought opportunities to contribute her time and talents, and began volunteering at St. Phillip the Deacon Church. She continued to volunteer there until she moved to Lake Minnetonka Shores in February of 2103.
Throughout her life, Bea was an avid gardener, taking great pride in planting and maintaining her flower and vegetable gardens. She also had a passion for baking pastries, and used that talent to bring joy to others, baking countless pies and cookies as a gesture of kindness for friends and family.
Bea is survived by her son Doug (Barb) of Garrison, ND, her daughters; Carol (Curtiss) Moen of Eagan, Sandy (Gregg) Friehe of Medina, Karen (Gary) Bergerson of Duluth and Nancy (Dave) Eid of Plymouth; her 7 grandchildren: Ami, Scott, Ashley, Jill, Matt, Nick and Rachel, 6 great-grandchildren (Matilda, Clara, Ellisa, Thomas, Victoria and Kennedy); her brothers; Ed (Dory) Pavek of Fertile and Bernard (Therese) Pavek of Wadena, and her sisters-in-law Barb Pavek and Marilyn Pavek, both of Detroit Lakes.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl, son, Ken, parents John and Mary Pavek; 4 brothers ( Leonard, Lloyd, Tony, & John Jr); and 3 sisters (Angie Blomseth, Patty Wander and Bernice Leier).
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, April 24, 2017 from 11-12 with a service at 12 p.m. at Anderson Family Funeral Home. Lunch will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
