Obituary

Beatrice C. Kemper, age 82, of Waubun, MN, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Essentia Health Systems in Fargo, ND.

Beatrice Cecelia Haider was born March 11, 1930 at home in Waubun, MN, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Schoenborn) Haider. She attended Kersting Country School and helped on the family farm. On May 10, 1949 Beatrice was united in marriage to Harold Kemper at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun. The couple made their home in Waubun and raised seven children. In addition to her family, Beatrice also kept busy inside and out. She enjoyed her large garden and its bountiful harvest each year. She also baked homemade breads, goodies and cookies, often for everyone to enjoy. When Beatrice wasn't mowing the lawn or washing the windows, you could find her in the house reupholstering furniture, driving school bus or watching the grandchildren. She also loved playing cards and a trip to the casino!

Beatrice will long be remembered as a hard working woman with a unique sense of humor and a hearty laugh. Beatrice was a lifelong member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun and its ladies aid. She also held memberships with the Ogema VFW Auxiliary and the National Catholic Society of Foresters.

Beatrice is survived by four sons: Vern (Jean), Wadena, MN, Rick (Kelley), Waubun, Curt (Tanya) Gary, MN, and Keith, Waubun; three daughters: Sharon (Gene) Bisek, Mahnomen, Joanne (Larry) Vanderplaats, Waubun and Marilyn, also Waubun; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Eldora Kemper, Mahnomen, Priscilla Gerlin, Anderson, SC, and Donna Prellwitz, Cle Elum, WA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Lorraine Kemper.

A Memorial Mass was held Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11 am at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waubun with Father Dwight Hoeberechts OMI as the Celebrant. Special music was provided by Monica Winter. Urn Bearers were her grandchildren. A time of gathering was held one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Inurnment took place at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Waubun, MN.
