Beatrice Balstad, age 95, of Fosston MN, formerly Winger, MN, died on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston, MN.

Beatrice was born on October 30, 1922, to Theodore and Bertha (Hustad) Geldaker in Winger, MN. After graduating from McIntosh High School in 1940, Beatie worked at the Sioux Store & Café in Winger for two years followed by a short time at the defense plant in Muskegon, MI.  On March 25, 1943, Beatrice was united in marriage to Kenneth Balstad at the home of her parents.  The couple made their home on a farm in Sletten Township, rural Winger.  Beatrice always took pride in her neat home and well-groomed yard and flower beds.  In 1987, Kenny and Beatie were pleased to be named East Polk County Valley Farmer and Homemaker of the Year.

A lifetime member of Dovre Lutheran Church, Beatrice taught Sunday School for a number of years and was also a member of the Ladies Aide.

Beatrice will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and sister by her daughter, Bonnie (Tom) Stich of Big Lake, MN; her son, Tennis (Lori) Balstad of Fosston; six grandchildren: Brett Stich of Albertville, MN, Kristin (Dillon) Cords of Anoka, MN, Trisha (Gabriel) Eronmosele of Fargo, ND, Trent, Faith Beatrice, and Lance Balstad all of Fosston; four great-grandchildren: Kemry, Ava, Tatum & Paisley; her sister, Frances Syrdal; and her brother, Theodore "Shorty".  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth (2000); sisters, Alice Burrous and Ione Balstad; and brothers, Kenny and Bill.
