Barbara Weber, 82, of Ada, MN, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Bridges Care Community, Ada.
Barbara Ann (Herringer) Weber was born on March 7, 1928, to Clayton and Margaret (Parson) Herringer, in Crookston, MN. Barb was baptized at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston on May 17, 1928. When she was 3 years old she moved to Ada and was raised by her aunt, Nora Roesch. Barb was confirmed on June 30, 1940 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada.
Barb attended Ada Public Schools. When she was a sophomore in high school she started working for the telephone company in Ada, as an operator. She graduated from Ada High School in 1946. She then was employed by Northwestern Bell of Fargo, for 1 ½ years. Barb, along with a friend, decided to move to Des Moines, IA, where she worked in an insurance office for six months. In 1948, Barb decided she liked living in Ada better so she moved back. She worked for many years for implement dealers in Ada first with Burrill Implement from 1948 to1964, then Berg Implement from 1964 to1986, and finally for Konkins John Deere, until her retirement. She worked for these John Deere dealerships for a total of 53 years as a bookkeeper. At one time she leased and operated the bowling alley in Ada. Barb also had the motor vehicle license bureau for a couple of years. During the Korean War she was a draft board clerk. Barb enjoyed bowling and was on a league. She also enjoyed golfing for many years. Barb loved reading romance and mystery novels. Another favorite pass time for Barb was watching the judge shows on TV. Barb had two cats that meant everything to her, Muffin & Lovey.
Barb married Richard Weber on May 7, 1960. He died Jan. 20, 1992. Barb was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was also a life member of the Ada Ladies VFW Auxiliary. Barb became a resident of Bridges Community Care in 2005 and was resident of the month in July of 2008.
Barb is survived by Jim (Marlys) McCrank and Larry (Ruth) McCrank and their families and many friends. She was preceded death by her parents and husband.
Memorial Mass: 10:30AM, December 4, 2010, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN.
