Watch Barbara's Funeral Service

Barbara Ann Bakke, 74, of Ulen, MN, gracefully departed from this world on July 6, 2024, at Viking Manor Nursing Home. Born on March 13, 1950, to Donald and Pearl (Nygaard) Asleson, Barbara was the beloved second of five siblings: Bonnie, Beverly, Michael, and Beth. She grew up in Ulen and proudly graduated from Ulen High School in 1969. On April 12, 1975, Barbara was united in marriage to Wayne Bakke at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen. She devoted herself to nurturing their family as a dedicated stay-at-home mom to three boys and one girl. Barbara's life was an embodiment of warmth and joy, centered around family, community, and the simple pleasures of life.  Later in life she enjoyed going shopping with her mom, playing cards, Bingo, and quilting with the Bethlehem quilters.  Her competitive spirit shone through in games of whist, rummy, and pinochle with family and her friends at the senior center.  They took several trips to Medora to experience the musicals and drive through the park, where she made many precious memories.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family and planning the next big get-together.  Barbara's faith was steadfast, and she was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  She had proudly volunteered at the Ulen Senior Center for several years, touching many lives with her kindness.  Barbara truly had a heart of gold, cared about everyone, and loved to serve others.

Barbara is survived by her husband Wayne; her children: Daren (Brandy) Bakke, Wade (Rhonda) Bakke, Bobbie Bakke, and Donne (Carolyn) Bakke; grandchildren: Rosie, Brandon, Rilee (Levi), Landon, Jada, Carson, Aurora, Zara, Kevin, and Emma; one great-granddaughter, Charlee; her sisters and brothers-in-law; Bonnie (Clair) Brenna, Beverly (Gayle) Hansen, and Beth Burnside; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Pearl, and her brother, Michael Asleson.

A funeral service was held Friday, July 12, 2024, at 2:00pm, with a visitation one hour prior, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen.  In lieu of flowers, Barbara's family prefers that trees be planted in her memory or memorials given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Inurnment will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, North, at a later date.
