Audrey Libak, age 81, of Mahnomen, MN, formerly of Shelly, MN, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home.

Audrey Rose Fenske was born August 20, 1940, in Ada, MN, the daughter of Christine Fenske.  Growing up, her mother passed away when she was only 10 and she was lovingly raised by her grandparents, William and Arlena Fenske, on the family farm near Borup, MN.  Audrey graduated as the Salutatorian from Borup High School with the Class of 1959.  Following graduation, Audrey was united in marriage to Earl Libak in Ada, MN, on December 27, 1959.  They made their home together on Earl's family farm near Shelly, MN.  Together they farmed for many years and were blessed with two children, Cheryl and Merlin.  When the kids became school age, Audrey began working as a Dietary Cook in the kitchen at the Halstad Living Center.  After 17 years as the head cook and 35 years on the farm, they made the move to Bejou, MN, in 1996.  Choosing a different path, Audrey became employed at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen as a slot supervisor.  Earl passed away in May of 2002 and Audrey remained in their home until later moving into the Mahnomen Area Assisted Living and most recently the nursing home.

Audrey will long be remembered for her cooking, baking, and sewing skills.  She was a wonderful self-taught cook, perfecting many meals such as her potato dumplings.  Audrey was also an excellent baker and accomplished seamstress, sewing many of her outfits including her wedding dress.  In her spare time, Audrey enjoyed reading, playing Bingo and crafts like needle point and painting.  Her personality lent itself to let her creativeness shine through in the many things she accomplished.  She and Earl also enjoyed spending a few winters in Texas when their health allowed.  Over the years, Audrey loved spending time with her family and treasured her children and grandchildren.  Although, gone from this life she will live on in the hearts of many.

Audrey is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Dale) Hogie of Lake Park, MN; a son, Merlin of Hawley, MN; five grandchildren: Braeden and Breann Hogie, Chase, Madison, and Zachariah Libak.  She was preceded in death by her mother; Christine; grandparents, William and Arlena Fenske; and daughter-in-law, Shannan Libak.

Blessed be the memory of Audrey Libak.
