Arnold "Arnie" Vernon Stall, age 73, died Monday, October 6, 2014, at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Arnold V. Stall was born in Fosston, MN, on August 2, 1941, and was lovingly raised by his grandmother. He grew up in the Mahnomen, MN, area attending St. Michael's Catholic School and later Mahnomen High School. In August of 1960 he married Phyllis Curfman of Fosston, MN, and together had five children. Employed by Thorson Inc. for many years, Arnie helped construct roads throughout Northern Minnesota for the majority of his adult life. He also owned and operated his own trucking business hauling cattle, hay, and freight. Arnie finished his working career with Gordon Construction.
Arnie enjoyed horses and spent many weekends with family and friends racing pony chariots. He would roam the countryside tirelessly on Sundays for something to buy and sell. Arnie was a Red Apple regular. He could be found daily at the same table, with the same guys, for coffee and conversation.
Arnie is survived by his children: Christy (Tom) Kaiser of East Grand Forks, MN, Jeanie (Rafael) Olivar of Hemet, CA, Scott (Carla) Stall of Brainerd, MN; Melanie (Todd) Holmquist of Mandeville, LA, Dan (Christy) Stall of Ulen, MN, special friend, Laurie Pinske of Mahnomen; 18 grandchildren, two great granddaughters; his mother, Nora Cich of Duluth, MN; two half-sisters, Bonnie Bjerk of Mahnomen and Avis Lindberg of Duluth, MN; two half-brothers, Steve Mickelson of Duluth, and Roger Mickelson of Trenton, IL.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen. A Time of Gathering will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Mahnomen. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Interment will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Beaulieu, MN.
