Arnold Schow, age 81, Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.
Arnold S. Schow was born March 14, 1927, the son of Johnnie and Amanda (Otternes) Schow in Twin Valley where he was raised. Arnie confirmed his faith at Zion Lutheran Church. Growing up, Arnie attended school in Twin Valley. On July 30, 1945, Arnie enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country in Austria until his honorable discharge on January 29, 1947. At that time, he returned to Twin Valley and continued his high school education, graduating from Twin Valley High School with the class of 1948. After graduation, Arnie furthered his education in the Twin Cities where he studied refrigeration. He returned to Twin Valley in 1951, where he was employed by Hanson Hardware for the rest of his working career. For the past 11 years, Arnie and his brother, Ray had enjoyed the winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. After his stroke last fall, Arnie became a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center where he made his home until the time of his death.
Arnie was an active member of the Twin Valley American Legion and the Wild Rice Conservation Club. His favorite past times included visiting, traveling, fishing and hunting.
Arnie is survived by a brother, Ray Schow of Twin Valley, MN and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Friday March, 13, 2009 at 10:30 am in the Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Officiating was Pastor Charles Bade with Danette Gwin serving as organist and Karen Bergstrom serving as vocalist. Pallbearers were Dan Buckle, Dennis Hoekstra, Ben Syverson, Leo Halvorson, Clayton Skaurud and Dennis Bueng. Military Honors were provided by the Twin Valley Nesseth-Lien Post #431 of the American Legion.
Burial took place in the Twin Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery.
