Obituary

Arnold "Arnie" C. Rivinius of Ada, MN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday October 24, 2016.

Arnold Rivinius was born on December 24, 1938 in Elgin ND. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy (Lokken) Rivinius, his parents Richard and Maggie Rivinius, his brother LeRoy Rivinius, and his Nephew Richard Rivinius. He is survived by a son Steven Rivinius of Billings, MT; daughters Denise Taylor (Jeff) of Deering, ND and Cheryl Rivinius of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren Amber basting (Mike) of Portland, OR, and Brian Basting of Grand Forks, ND and a nephew Jim Rivinius of Pleasanton, CA.

Arnie joined the Navy at seventeen and served until 1962. He married Kathy Lokken in Stanley, ND in 1961. Eventually Arnold and Kathy landed in Grand Forks, ND, were they lived for 20 years. After retirement they moved to Ada, MN. In Ada, Arnie volunteered with the Senior Companion Program for several years. He was an active member of the community and the Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed coffee with friends and sharing stories, jokes, and his quick wit with all those he met. He will be dearly missed.

On Friday, October 28th 2016 at 2pm a Memorial and Celebration of Life service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Ada with visitation from 1-2 pm.

Arnie chose to donate his body for science at UND. He will be cremated at a later date with a private family interment in Grand Forks, ND.
