Obituary

Armand Alan Mayoue passed away suddenly, April 19, 2018, in Fargo, ND, with his wife, Karen, by his side, following a brief battle with cancer.

Armand was born March 15, 1952, in Minot, ND, to Lorraine Pearl (Semchenko) Mayoue and Alvin Sylvester Mayoue. He attended elementary school in Minot. The family moved several times throughout North Dakota, eventually settling in Mahnomen, MN, in 1968. Armand attended Mahnomen High School his junior and senior years and graduated from Mahnomen in 1970.  Throughout high school, Armand worked for local farmers, including Eddie Nedved, who would later become his step-father. The family enjoyed many loving years on the farm with Eddie.

Armand attended and trained at Detroit Lakes Vocational Technical School.  In 1972, he moved to Greeley, CO, to work for Monfort, Inc. In 1974, Armand joined the U.S. Navy and spent 20 years serving as an electrician, traveling the world on various Naval vessels. As a young man, Armand was married and had a son. The couple later divorced. In 1994, Armand retired from the Navy as an E8 and settled in Detroit Lakes, MN, where for 17 years he worked at SJE-Rhombus. While working at SJ, Armand met his second wife, Karen.

Karen and Armand were married on February 19, 2010. Karen and Armand happily enjoyed their years together, traveling, gardening, and taking care of their property in Detroit Lakes. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, and was a genius at fixing just about anything, from electrical to carpentry to automotive, etc. Armand was a quiet man and a hard worker; whose work was always impeccable. He took care of his brothers and sisters when they were little, and each of them has fond memories of their big brother. He was loved and will be missed.

Armand was predeceased in death in 2014, by his mother, Lorraine P. (Mayoue) Nedved; and in 1990, by his father, Alvin S. Mayoue. Armand leaves behind his loving wife, Karen Mayoue of Detroit Lakes, MN, and stepson, Jeffrey Oliver of Fargo, ND; his son, Shawn Mayoue of Smithfield, VA; his sisters: Jeri (Lloyd) Brown of Rochester, MN, Sharon Mayoue of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Michelle Dumont of Biloxi, MS; one brother, Robert (Christine) of Seattle, WA; and several nieces, nephews, and their families.
